Economic Development Network
The Economic Development Network

This forum aims to enable VCS organisations to input on training, enterprise, volunteering and employment issues to Team Hackney, where local decisions and policy is made.
The network is the voluntary and community sector equivalent of the Economic Development Partnership (EDP) at Team Hackney. The EDP's priority is to increase the employment rate in Hackney and it oversees a suite of employment and skills indicators, from 35 indicators which Team Hackney has agreed with central government it will focus on between 2008 and 2011.

How you can get involved in the new Work Programme
The government’s new Work Programme means that services for Hackney are to be funded as part of East London wide contracts, likely to be awarded to three organisations (called primes), and each worth £10million - £50million. This will fund any activity that helps people on their journey to employment – from wellbeing and exercise classes for those furthest from the job-market, through perhaps mental health difficulties or long term unemployment, to enterprise development, ESOL and basic skills and job search training and support.
