Parenting
The Community Empowerment Network (CEN) and Children and Young People’s Providers Forum (CYPPF) have launched a review and exploration into the ways the Voluntary & Community Sector and public service providers support parents.
We recognise that parents have a diversity of needs and without support may not be able to carry out their important role. We call on all community networks that provide support to parents to get involved.
A lively and informative CEN meeting in November brought together CEN reps and network leads, to discuss the issue and identify key areas that need to be addressed. The discussion was informed by case-studies and presentations from front-line organisations working in the area.
It became clear that parents need support in many areas including:
- Raising families aspiration
- Educational attainment
- Sustainable learning
- Employment opportunities
- Improving family health and wellbeing.
The CYPPF have launched a Proud to Support Parents campaign and request that any organisations complete the short profile which outlines what they do. To view and complete the profile click here
